I’m sure you’ve heard about the lovley Jay Crownover. She’s one of my all time favorite authors. She’s written several series such as Welcome to the Point, The Marked Men, Saints of Denver, and The Breaking Point Series… The Marked Men series is my all time favorite. Rule, the first main character of this series, is my ultimate book boyfriend. I don’t need to tell you that I’ve read them all. I recommend them to everyone I know, they’re full of hot guys, independent woman and steamy romance 😉

This Holiday Season, Jay decided to surprise us all with a new read, a new series called THE GETAWAY SERIES. Well, I haven’t been able to getaway from the book. I wanted to take a minute and share with you this new amazing book and my favorite quote from it.

Every once in a while, you need to get away from it all.
I was a woman on the edge, shaken and shattered after a breakup that felt like it tore my entire world apart.
My best friend, sick of watching me drown in misery and melancholy, harassed me until I agreed to go with her on a week-long wilderness retreat.
She promised days spent bonding and getting in touch with our inner badasses. It was supposed to be all about the two of us roughing it and making do with the bare minimum. She assured me we were going to be pushed to our limits in ways that were unimaginable. Neither one of us could have ever guessed just how right she was.
Nowhere in the glossy brochure did it say anything about the fact I was going to have to battle the insufferable but deliciously rugged and sexy trail guide instead of the elements. The brochure also forgot to mention the part that warned when you left civilization behind, there was no place to pack your inhibitions and fears.
I was told that I would be facing a week where the only thing I should expect was the unexpected. However, no one mentioned that I was going to have to fight for my life…and my heart as soon as I ventured into the unknown.
I was a pro at hiding from my feelings but when it came time to face a real threat, one that could change everything, I learned I was more of a no surrender, no retreat kind of girl.
Retreat is a standalone novel, the first in the Getaway series which centers on the hardheaded and brokenhearted Warner brothers and the women that dare to love them.
These boys are very good at putting the wild in wilderness.

Women like you don’t have to try and destroy things, Leo. You just do, because men like me aren’t strong enough totay away and we end up wanting things the other isn’t capable of giving.

Of course it is, because even if you only get the pleasure of enjoying what you’ve been given for a second, or a minute, or a day, you still get to experience it. That experience will stay with you forever and that’s the reward. No one can take those memories away from you. No one can strip you of the moments you’ve had. Even if the trophy is gone, you still won it and that victory lasts forever.

Jay Crownover surprises us all with the release of her new self-published book: Retreat.

One thing that I’ve always love about Jay’s books is how its title always hints the general plot of the story, and as usual the name chosen for the book has many different meanings. In Retreat we read about making a quiet trip to a secluded place for rest and relaxation, about people who withdraw from the rest of the world, about a change in decisions, plans and attitudes, we even read about the pull back of forces during gunshot action.

Retreat is the first book of a new series which introduces us to the lives of the Warner brothers.

The story is solely narrated by its main character, Leora, from her point of view. Leo is dragged to a forced vacation retreat by her best friend, Emrys, to heal from a past relationship. The least Leo expects is to find a way not only to heal her broken heart, but to find the strength and self-assurance she needs to find herself again, to trust in the people around her and allow someone to love and take care of her again. She specially isn’t prepared to meet the handsome cowboys that own the ranch Em chose for their destination, since one of them will own her heart completely. Leo and Em get to meet the Warner brothers, Cyrus, Sutton, and Lane, who are to show them around the beautiful landscapes of Wyoming. Cy, the quite not a cowboy brother, develops fast interest in Leo, even his personality isn’t one to show it clearly.

Travelling through forests, mountains and rivers can be an adventure, but none of them imagined the extent of an adventure they were about to face. Just when everything seemed to flow nicely and a love relationship seemed to be growing, regardless of their sore backsides and minor injuries that visiting the wilderness my bring, a very unexpected turn of events happen. It is certainly a trip the characters will never forget. The novelty of the story and the way the different characters in it seem to get their own storyline later on is one of the things I like the most in Jay’s writing style and books.

I definitely want to read the following books in the Getaway series.
